Location: From Kamloops take the Yellowhead (hwy #5) north to Little Fort. At Little Fort, turn west on hwy 24 and drive 22.5 kms. (13.9 miles). Turn left into the Long Island (Janice) Lake forest service recreation site road and travel 500 m. (1640 ft.) into the campsite.

Resorts & Campsites: 1 resort is located on the northwest corner of the lake. A BCFS campsite with boat launch is located at the northeast corner.

Fishing Report: A very good fly fishing lake with rainbows in the 3 lb. range and some going much larger. Along with chironomids fly fishers should look forward to a good spring may fly hatch.

Viewscape: Situated in forested hilly terrain on the Thompson Plateau. A 3 meter band of deciduous trees and shrubs surround the lake. Behind this stands a coniferous forest of lodgepole pine, englemann spruce and balsam fir. A very beautiful looking lake that holds 4 small islands.

Shoreline: From the shoreline the lake drops off quickly to a depth of 28 m. (91.8 ft.) . The lake substrate is made up of large boulders and organics. Patches of sedge are found all along the lakeshore.

Sedge Lakes - Sedge Lake, a small lake of 7 ha. (18 ac.) , is located 3 kms. (1.9 miles) east of Janice. Belly boats are easily hiked into the lake via hiking trail from Janice. Sedge produces rainbows in the 2 lb. range.
